A Weekend in NYC

Mike had a business trip in NY back in March so we decided to make a weekend out of it with two of our wonderful friends, Trisha and Justin. This isn’t the first time I’ve done a NYC post (see here), but I couldn’t resist another one! There is just so much to do and see there!

Chelsea-MarketWe started our morning by picking up coffees at Chelsea Market and then headed out for a walk on the High Line (a cool public park built on an historic freight rail line).

The boys wanted to make a stop at McSorley’s Old Ale House to warm ourselves up with a few pints! McSorley’s is said to be the oldest pub in NYC. The pub is small, but the atmosphere is great. They only serve two types of beer: light and dark. The beers are served in half-pints so you get two glasses every time you order one beer. Our Irish server (see above) definitely had some skills–check out the 12 beers he’s carrying!:)

We got tickets to the Comedy Cellar’s 10pm show, so we made reservations at Mario Batali’s Otto Enoteca Pizzeria for dinner. Such great pizza! After we stuffed ourselves silly we had an evening laughing it up. Apparently Matt Damon was at the comedy club–he must have been using his Jason Bourne skills to get by me undetected!:) From there we headed out to The Back Room speakeasy where they serve champagne and gin in tea cups!

Shake-ShackAfter a (late) night out on the town we hit up Shake Shack for lunch. Have you been? It may just be heaven on earth as far as fast food joints go! We actually went to Shake Shack twice over the weekend. Oops!

Central-ParkNo trip to NYC is complete without a stop in Central Park!

What a great weekend! New York, we love you!
